BALI, Indonesia, February 23, 2017 – Principle Power is proud to actively participate at The Economist’s Fourth Annual World Ocean Summit, taking place this week in Indonesia, represented by its CEO, João Metelo. The World Ocean Summit brings together world leaders from the business, government and NGO sectors to discuss the alignment between human activity and ocean health and the important new opportunities that development in the ocean represents. The transition from a conventional economy in the ocean to a “blue” or sustainable economy is already a tremendous economic and investment opportunity.
Many of these opportunities will require good governance, industrial scaling and large amounts of capital. The Summit brings “a critical eye” to the important issue of how the blue economy is to be financed.
“It’s an honor to take an active role in the discussion on these issues together with key leaders in the ocean economy,” said Mr. Metelo, “and we enjoyed the opportunity to describe the important role floating offshore wind and Principle Power’s WindFloat can, and should, play in the blue economy, namely by enabling the opportunity for largely expanding the oceans assets base, while creating important value which can be reinvested in ocean sustainable activities.”
